Marilyn G. S. Emerson, President and founder of College Planning Services, Inc., specializes in college and graduate admission counseling. She received a BA from Queens College and an MSW from Fordham University School of Social Work. Marilyn has earned the CEP (Certified Educational Planner) designation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and is an active member of the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the New York State Association of College Admission Counselors (NYSACAC) and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
As an independent educational consultant, Marilyn has visited many colleges and universities and continues to visit approximately thirty campuses each year. Marilyn gives workshops for parents, both as an instructor in Chappaquas Continuing Education Program and also privately. She instituted the College Night Program for Horace Greeley High School juniors. Marilyn was chairperson of the Horace Greeley High School PTA and the Bell Middle School PTA. She has taken the journey twice with her own two daughters.
During the summer of 2008, Marilyn will be teaching a course for the UCLA Extension Certificate in College Counseling Program entitled Special Issues in College Counseling.
